[How KUMAKEathon works]
The event is run in English.
Due to the global situation of the continuing pandemic that makes it difficult for people to travel freely, we are presenting a blended experience of online and offline activities.
During the 5-day event periods, we offer a series of inspiring online webinars, mentoring, online ideation tools and platforms, physical prototyping kits (for those who have no access to KU Makerspace, Seoul) and offline prototyping facilities (for those who can access).
The participants will have a chance to meet talented, like-minded people around the world online and work in teams to create new business ideas and create prototypes.
▶ Day 0 (Saturday 23rd Oct) is for ice breaking and a virtual tour to KU Makerspace. Teams gather for the first time for the virtual tour to the makerspace facilities.
▶ Day 1 (Saturday 30th Oct) is for Intro and Inspiration. Teams are introduced to the MAKEathon challenge and attend the expert webinars on the challenge. Then teams will have 3 days for team ideation before gathering again.
▶ Day 2 (Wednesday 3nd Nov) is for idea scoping and mentoring. Teams work together virtually to develop ideas through brainstorming, sketching, prototyping and business modelling via Zoom, Slack and Miro with the support of mentors.
▶ Days 3 and 4 (Thursday & Friday 4th-5th Nov) are for idea refining and finalisation. Teams are guided to develop their business model and prototypes and the final pitch.
▶ Day 5 (Saturday 6th Nov) is the final day for the final pitches and the award ceremony.
The winning ideas will be professionally made into physical prototypes and the winning teams will receive additional mentoring at KU Start-Up Support Foundation to develop their ideas further.

글로벌 행사인 이번 메이커톤은 영어로 진행됩니다.
계속되는 코로나 사태로 여행이 자유롭지 못한 전세계적인 상황으로 인해 이번 메이커톤은 온라인과 오프라인 활동의 조합으로 이루어집니다.
5일의 행사기간 동안 일련의 웹 세미나와 멘토링, 온라인 아이디어 내기 툴과 플랫폼이 모든 참여자들에게 제공됩니다. 서울 고려대 메이커스페이스에 오지못하는 참여자들을 위해서 메이커톤 스타터 키트가 발송되고, 서울에 있는 참여자에게는 고려대 메이커스페이스 장비와 제공됩니다 (사회적 거리 기준에 맞춘 인원수로 조율됩니다).
참여자들은 전세계에서 참여하는 뜻이 맞고 재능있는 사람들과 조를 이루어 온라인 상에서 새 비즈니스 아이디어와 시제품을 만들게 됩니다.
▶ 0일차 (10월 23일 토요일) 참여자들간 첫 온라인 만남과 고려대 메이커스페이스 온라인 투어입니다. 이렇게 만나 일주일간 슬랙에서 조원끼리 알아가는 시간을 가집니다.
▶ 1일차 (10월 30일 토요일) 소개와 영감의 날입니다. 메이커톤 챌린지에 대한 자세한 소개를 받고, 관련된 전문가들의 웹 세미나에 참석해서 영감을 얻습니다. 이후 조원들은 3일간 조별 아이디어 내기 시간을 갖습니다.
▶ 2일차 (11월 3일 수요일) 아이디어 살펴보기와 멘토링의 날입니다. 조원들은 줌, 슬랙, 미로를 통해 만나 브레인스토밍, 스케치, 시제품 만들기 등을 하며 서로 가져온 아이디어를 살펴보고 개발하고 멘토들과 의견을 나눕니다.
▶ 3-4일차 (11월 4-5일 목-금요일) 아이디어 다듬기와 마무리의 날입니다. 조원들은 비즈니스 모델과 시제품을 개발하고 최종 발표물을 준비합니다.
▶ 5일차 (11월 6일 토요일) 최종발표와 우승팀을 가리는 마지막 날입니다.
수상한 아이디어는 전문적으로 실제 프로토타입으로 제작되며, 우승팀은 고려대 창업지원센터에서 추가 멘토링을 받아 아이디어를 더욱 발전시킬 수 있습니다.
