Discussions about the future and sprinting into it with purpose for what the planet needs most.
Centre for Industrial Sustainability (CIS), Institute for Manufacturing, University of Cambridge is announcing the return of the annual gathering of enthusiasts for industrial sustainability. The annual gathering has been held inspiring many sustainability researchers and enthusiast around the world every January in the scenic Peak District in Derbyshire UK.
Aim

To help participants think about their impact, their careers and their researches within the context of what’s most needed for the planet.
To help participants make the most of this opportunity for conversations, exploration and connection.
The focus of 2024
Industrial Transformation to happen at scale and speed with an extra focus on Regenerative Manufacturing.
When
29th January- 2nd February, 2024 (5 days)
*Short visits are welcome, though you will miss out on some great bits 😊.
Programme
The programme is structured around the need for Industrial Transformation to happen at scale and speed with an extra focus on Regenerative Manufacturing. As with previous editions, it will be very flexible in the agenda and offer many opportunities to meet your needs (whatever they might be).
Part of the time will be spent tackling specific issues to allow our thinking to move to reality (we will be leading sessions on Regenerative Manufacturing for example), and some of the time will be spent discussing how we cope as individuals.
Things to think about before attending:
- On the Monday we will gather to ask what you want to get out of the week and what you can offer. This can be relating to research or industry problem solving, for example. If you have a big idea in terms of want or offering, please e-mail this beforehand.
- One of the offerings will involve Professor Steve Evans bringing regenerative manufacturing to our attention and this will be done in multiple ways, encouraging discussion.
- For those who have attended previously, either at Losehill in 2017 (or many times before 😊)or at The Sill, Northumbria in 2018, we would like to introduce a discussion about what has changed since last time.
- For industry attendees, you might like to offer future challenges. You might want to sponsor a challenge which could be worked on by dedicated groups for part of the event, if you think you want to do this then check with us first to make sure it is placed well in the agenda.
By the end of the event
Have us all leave wishing that we could stay for longer, and full of ideas and friendships to guide our future.
Practicalities
- Please bring relaxed and warm clothing to wear indoors.
- Please bring a waterproof coat, boots, hat, gloves and a torch for outdoor activities, weather may be inclement.
